Living Well – for Older Adults

The Living Well Program encourages support, connection, and wellbeing for older adults by promoting healthy aging and positive relationships which strengthen seniors to live well. Through an online video series, resources, and group sessions (when available), seniors learn more about the positive things they can do to boost their wellbeing and maintain healthy relationships.

Here’s what keeps SENIORS living well:
 

  • Supportive family and friends

  • Social connection and participation in activities

  • Access to information on elder abuse

  • Education about personal and legal rights

  • Building healthy coping strategies and skills

  • Confident personality traits and high self-esteem

  • Positive lifestyle habits that promote wellbeing

Self-Empowerment 1

Through information, group discussion, activities and self-reflection, women are empowered to discover their strengths, identify healthy choices and make positive changes in their lives. Participants receive support and gain awareness which strengthens them to live a violence-free lifestyle based on safety, respect, and equality in their relationships.


This is a 10-week program offered in both fall and winter. Sessions are once a week, offered in the morning or evening.


Self-Empowerment 1 may have both in-person and virtual options. Child Care is available for the morning session.

Self-Empowerment 2

Building on the learning from Self-Empowerment 1, women are helped to put new thinking and healthy strategies into practice. Group participants explore topics such as communication, self-esteem, anger and boundaries in a supportive, engaging environment.

 

This is a 6-week program offered in the spring. Sessions are once a week, offered in the morning or evening.

 

Self-Empowerment 2 may have both in-person and virtual options. Childcare is available for the morning session. Participants must have completed S.E. 1 to participate in this group.

Strength To Change – Men’s Program

This group supports men who have difficulty with abusive behavior in their relationships. Participants are helped to examine their established beliefs and attitudes that lead to unhealthy relationships. As well, men receive information and healthy strategies that strengthen them to live a violence-free lifestyle based on respect, equality and responsibility in relationships.

This is a 16 week program, offered in both the fall and winter. Sessions are once a week and held in the evenings.

Building Trust, Making Friends

In partnership with local elementary schools, this group supports children, 6-10 years, with their healthy emotional and social development. The program provides children with fun, engaging activities with an emphasis on strengthening self-esteem, building friendships and making healthy choices.

This is an 8 week program. Currently, this program is being run in partnership with a local school.

Teen Empowerment

Recognize Strengths, Create Healthy Relationships, Make Positive Choices

The Teen Empowerment Program empowers teens to explore the social and personal challenges they face, increase their self-awareness, and make healthy choices through fun, engaging activities and group discussion. The group gives teens a place to share what they know and learn about healthy options and solutions together for when relationships of all kinds get tough!

The results are teens who are empowered for a positive future!

This Program is currently hosted through the Lloydminster Community Youth Centre.
